Did you know that your brain, central nervous system, intestines and other abdominal organs, like liver, kidneys, pancreas are all connected to your skin?

Our body’s formation in our mother’s womb evolves from the three dermal (skin) layers.  For all of your life, the relationship of your skin with these vital organs maintains a circuit of communication … performing a multitude of bodily functions, emotional and mental processes.

Now, we understand why touch is so impactful on our wellbeing.

The caring kind of touch fosters trust, openness, easy healing when needed, and a generally balanced sense of self.    Whereas, violent or otherwise malicious touch wounds us deeply, creating an array of problems in relating to the world around us.

The permission granted to a massage therapist to lay hands on another human being is a sacred opportunity to heal old wounds and to satisfy the most basic of human needs – supportive connection and a sense of belonging in the world.

When feeling harassed by too many demands, worries over a challenge or crisis, selfish drivers, broken technology, telemarketers, misunderstandings with co-workers …it pays to take some time out to reset your nervous system.

A hug shared with a friend, a reassuring squeeze of a shoulder, a stroke on the head.  These are brief moments that say, “I see you”.  Sometimes you need more.

The right touch with a skilled massage therapist resonates with your whole being to give you the chance to regain your footing.  This tender care can allow you to sleep better, breathe more freely, sharpen your thinking.

Touch is fundamental to our thriving.  Your body, from bone to skin, will thank you.
